Linn County declines funding for Tower Terrace realignment project
The Tower Terrace Road project linking Marion and Cedar Rapids, including a two to four lane expansion and relocation of East Main Street toward Robins, won federal support totaling 6.9 million with Cedar Rapids and Marion pledging 1.76 million and 990 thousand respectively. Linn County refuses to participate claiming county funds should not support city street extensions destined to join city networks. County official Brent Oleson notes most of the corridor sits in unincorporated Linn County and county dollars are intended for different priorities.
