Archaeologists uncover artifacts from Camp Lawton POW camp
Archaeologists at Georgia Southern University display finds from the Civil War Camp Lawton near Magnolia Springs State Park. Items include a Union 3rd Corps ring, a Michigan token, a Massachusetts buckle, and a daguerreotype frame, revealing life of captured soldiers and their journeys. The site, used briefly in 1864, yielded personal keepsakes as evidence of the prisoners’ daily life. The museum plans October additions, including a prisoner letter dated November 14, 1864.

Billy goat hounds German tourists in Austrian Alps
In Ausservillgraten Austrian police calm a rampaging billy goat that attacked a German couple for three hours. Steffen Prill wrestles the beast to the ground after repeated bouts of horn butting as his wife Anja Butler watches. No serious injuries but the owner will pay for Butlers torn trousers.
