Marion considers open ended levy for sewer repair and projects
Marion City Council may place a capital improvements levy on the November ballot to fund 12 million dollars of sewer repairs and projects such as parks trails library and streets. If approved the levy could cost about 35 dollars per year for a 100000 home and would generate about 500000 annually. The council may also set a sunset date but city manager Jeff Schott advises against ending the tax after 10 years.
