Israeli Air Strikes Hit Lebanon as Civilian Deaths Rise
Israeli jets bombed a guerrilla base and a power plant in eastern Lebanon in retaliation for rocket fire on northern Israel. Two children were injured when their house roof collapsed during bombardment, part of a week of escalating violence that has killed nine civilians and endangered a 16 month old ceasefire. The U N backed monitoring body met in Naqoura to urge civilian protection.
