Union pleads case over Line-O-Tronics workers at Marion
The National Labor Relations Board hearing in Cedar Rapids tackles whether 11 Line-O-Tronics workers at Kwik-Way Manufacturing are covered by the Machinists Local 831 or should be represented by Teamsters Local 238. Kwik-Way argues Line-O-Tronics is not a distinct employer and not engaged in interstate commerce. The Teamsters seek an election among the 11 workers while the Machinists have long represented the group. A second petition follows a July Teamsters action and a prior indictment issue involving Teamsters President Roy Williams.
