George R. Dean professor emeritus of mathematics at the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla died Wednesday after a long illness at 72. He led the mathematics department from 1897 to 1935, graduated in 1890, and began teaching at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a native of Waterloo Illinois.
