Appeals court orders third sentencing for C R killer
The Iowa Court of Appeals vacated part of Cedar Rapids native Denem Null’s resentencing for the 2010 robbery and murder of Kevin Bell. The court said the district judge must explicitly state reasons for consecutive versus concurrent terms and address eligibility factors from a 2012 ruling banning juvenile life without parole.

North Liberty man shot after entering home in Oxford
Aaron D. Kahler, 39, allegedly entered a Oxford home and assaulted two women prompting a homeowner to shoot Kahler in the leg with a shotgun. Kahler was treated at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and faces multiple charges including assault while participating in a felony and second degree burglary. The incident remains under sheriff investigation.
