Two Car Collisions Injure Eleven in North Liberty Area
Special to The Gazette reports two late night crashes injuring eleven. In North Liberty the Cedar Rapids Iowa City car passengers suffered cuts and bruises while the Iowa City car occupants including two 23 year olds were treated for head injuries and a fractured shoulder. Hospitals treated all, with Sutton and others listed among the injured. A second crash at Burlington and Dodge left all in the Beck car with cuts and bruises and a child treated for bruises and shock.

129 Aliens Draw Pensions In Iowa
Des Moines AP reports 129 aliens were among 9 771 people approved for Iowa old age pensions in 1938 39. Aliens need 25 years in the United States to qualify, and 30 others on the rolls were in the first papers stage toward citizenship. Non citizens totaled 159 or about 1.8 percent of approvals. Legislation last session removed the belief citizenship requirement.

Police Chief Gene Miller won a foot race Thursday night against Ernest Wood who escaped near the city jail from Patrolman W J Goodyear.
