Super stock drivers block IMCA plan at Hawkeye Downs
Hawkeye Downs and consultant Johnny Oberthien failed to replace the super stocks with IMCA Stock Cars after drivers opposed the move. Sponsor backing fell through amid anti IMCA sentiment, leaving the track to keep the current super stock class and freeze rules through 2005. The venue adds IMCA Hobby Stock on Fridays with a $44,825 purse to boost profits.
