State appeals to judge amid school violence at Eldora
The state seeks court approval to modify the remedial plan for the Boys State Training School in Eldora to allow overnight housing in Corbett Miller Hall for certain violent students. Independent monitor Dedel reports rising assaults on youth and staff, unsafe conditions, and staffing instability, urging immediate safety improvements while DHS faces ongoing litigation from a 2017 suit and disclosures of high injury rates and staff fears.
