Ringed Turtle Doves Invade Cedar Rapids Yards
Bird lovers note flocks gathered on cemetery lawns and riverfront grass due to dry weather and abundant lawn insects. Nearby Taylor School reports three unusual ringed-neck turtle doves, two buff colored one white, with black neck rings and rounded tails. Domesticated doves, they eat ground seeds including cracked corn and berries, drawing local attention after two months in the area.
