Night Stage Show At Fair Dazzles Hawkeye Downs
The Follies International closed the All Iowa Fair first day at Hawkeye Downs with a glittering night show. A chorus of twenty danced in Jewel finale numbers beside acts by the Dunedins Karolis Webber Sisters Faith Hope and her horse Zingo Eleanor Zita Charles Annis and Inez Gambel. Monday adds the Four Lorenzos high act while the saddle horse show runs at 7 30 p.m.

Eldon Holst of Davenport won the grand champion pen of five junior fed commercial steers at the All-Iowa Livestock show in Cedar Rapids. Sixty-two pens were judged, with Dale Wendt and Lloyd Fey taking reserve and third, respectively. The project involved 375 head bought last October in the Nebraska sandhills, allocated to 75 boys across 17 counties, and now 62 youths will attend a banquet as awards are split across gain and records.

Hawkeye Downs hosts a kaleidoscopic fair with Farm Bureau day to come and a strong harness and auto racing lineup. Thorpe notes high attendance, Red Cross aid, Jersey cattle judging, 4-H feeders and a saddle horse show as activities fill the day.
