Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids becomes a bustling city within a city as the fourth annual All Iowa fair opens. Visitors from across the state mingle with farmers, business folk, housewives, and students for a weekend of entertainment and exhibits.
Washington reports about 1500 American passports thought lost in Europe many possibly in Moscow or other locations. William Dally 63 former International Harvester executive was found dead on a lonely Ocean City beach four days after his body washed ashore. He vanished in Hamburg in 1922 after his wife refused a divorce. second wife Irma 40 was found hysterical and later hospitalized. Authorities note possible suicide pact and Dally’s long concealed life after disappearance.
Dr. R. F. Roller 55 kept his impending death private from sons Merrill and Wendell while they completed their medical exams at the University of Kansas. After exams ended, teacher A. E. Hays informed them. The physician died Saturday after awakening to urge them to pursue medicine.

William McMahill a 72 year old retired farmer of Wapello died when the car driven by Lee James about 30 crashed through a guard rail east of Wapello. James was jailed on intoxicated driving charges. Coroner no inquest decision yet. Survived by son Joe brother John two sisters Mrs Hart and Mrs Siverly.
Kansas City councilman Frank M. Eviston submitted his resignation late Saturday to city clerk C. W. Regan with a copy sent to Mayor Bryce B. Smith. He is among the three councilmen-at-large facing recall campaigns by charter and Republican party members seeking signatures.
In a collision between a Denver and Rio Grande Western passenger train and a Santa Fe passenger at a South Denver crossover, 54 people were injured. One trainman and one passenger died from the crash.
