VFW Leader Sees POWs Released Before Christmas
DALLAS UPI Hebert Rainwater national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Warssaid he has inside information some American prisoners of war will be released before Christmas. Speaking at the VFW national convention he said the group has worked a year for release and expects partial gains by year end. He warned North Vietnam may release only part of the POWs and linked a complete release to U.S. troop withdrawal from Indo China. Rainwater cited talks with North Vietnamese representatives in India and estimated about 600 Americans held POW in Indo China, including 336 in North Vietnam.

Anamosa Mother Killed in Crash
A 42 year old Anamosa woman Gertrude Oltmann died after a collision at an unmarked intersection four miles northeast of Anamosa. Her husband Emile 46 was driver in the car with four Oltmann children and a Miss Ortgies. The truck was driven by Colin Steffler 17. Steffler injured with skull injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa highway patrol.

The incident occurred after the victim parked his car in the loop area around 10 a.m. Thursday.
