Pork Producers Urged Not to Expand Facilities in Iowa
The Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa Pork Producers Assn urge caution on expansion into new hog facilities. They say 1977 and 1975 profits do not justify growth given USDA forecast gains of 17 percent in sows June to November and 30 percent November to December. They warn small producers may incur debt if markets dip below production costs.
