Agriculture Grain Forecast Raised To 25 Million Tons
Butz said demand could rise to about 25 million tons from 20 million. He announced an informal suspension of further grain deals with American traders and Soviet officials to hedge against possible crop declines. The temporary hold was a precaution to avoid formal import controls, with possible legal action if traders ignore the request. Re-examined after the September crop report.
