Excavators face maximum penalties for gas line blasts

Two Iowa contractors DeRocher Construction and Kunde Dozing & Tiling agreed to the maximum civil penalties under the One Call law after April excavations ruptured 16 and 24 inch natural gas pipelines. The actions caused massive explosions and fires injuring two workers and damaging property. Page says both consent decrees include permanent injunctions and $10,000 and $20,000 penalties respectively.
