Washington Iowa faced a string of water main breaks during Easter weekend 2011 with 41 breaks in the year, the most in 16 years for J J Bell. Nationally about 240000 water main breaks occur annually, with EPA estimating 334.8 billion needed for 20 years. Iowa accounting for 6.1 billion of that, mainly for transmission and distribution mains.
