Emory Collins of LeMars Iowa the dirt track champion topped the half mile in 24.45 seconds breaking the previous 26.03 record set by Willie Stokes. Wilburn Better Recovers At Home From Iowa Injury
Jimmy Wilburn, veteran dirt track driver, recuperating in Indianapolis from serious injuries suffered last month at OsKaloosa. He had been unconscious three weeks and is now up briefly. Ben MuSick, driving No. 2 Offenhauser, brought the car to listen to the motor at Wilburn’s home. The Wilburn car will race in Cedar Rapids next Sunday and the following Friday at the Allowa fair car events.
