An 18 year old woman accused of fatally striking a five year old girl while driving drunk had been removed from a bar about 20 minutes earlier for disruptive behavior. The bar's attorney said both women were drinking prior to being asked to leave.
Guilia Medici, 17, named Lucas County Fair queen, would have competed at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines but Lucas County officials refused to cover the $250 entry fee. Her family offered to pay, yet the county stood firm. The state fair notes nominees are county level decisions and confirms no further comment from the county.
