Farmers Question Experience As Iowa Corn Season Falters
A Iowa corn season amid drought and extreme heat tests farmers reliance on experience. Seed moisture mold damage followed by a cool wet start, then 14 days of 100 plus degree heat reduced pollination and cob fill. Experts note corn needs about 1,500 tons of water per acre per season and shallow roots amplify drought risk. Late planting advised but season to season risk remains.
