Gov. Culver announced a statewide Own Your Future drive urging Iowa residents aged 45 to 65 to prepare for future financial housing and health care needs. More than 400,000 letters will be mailed with planning kits and a toll free number.

Ames collects and destroys 331 pounds of unused meds
More than 200 residents dropped off pills lotions and powders at Ames City Hall to keep them from water and theft. 331 pounds were incinerated at the city incinerator after a three hour event led by Youth and Shelter Services with Erin Kennedy noting the oldest item a Tylenol sinus medication expired in 1987.

Two Men Charged in Mall of the Bluffs Robbery
Council Bluffs police say Collin Thompson age 19 and Travis Klein age 22 were charged after robbing the Mall of the Bluffs last weekend. Witnesses described Thompson displaying a bag of watches with price tags before the heist and Klein serving as driver. Jewelry sunglasses were stolen and several stores damaged. a 57 year old security guard was bound with duct tape and threatened with a shotgun. Further arrests possible.
