Two Tama County Fatalities in 12 Hours
Special to The Gazette reports two traffic deaths in Tama County within 12 hours. Kay Rhodes 18 of Toledo died after a curve misjudgment on highway 229 near Garwin. Driver William Prusha 24 and passenger Floyd Rutledge 25 were hospitalized in fair condition with head injuries. Darwin R. Hilman 37 of State Center died when a milk truck collided with a lowboy 3 miles south of Montour. An inquest will be held for Hilman. Rhodes was born May 17 1940 and survived by several relatives. Funeral services for Rhodes are being arranged.

A 13-pound female monkey survived an unmanned stratosphere balloon flight near Crosby Minnesota after reaching about 60 000 feet. The capsule carried goldfish frogs insects and radiation sensitive plates to study cosmic rays.
