Ames bus driver gets 30 days in fatal hit and run case
Benjamin Clague, 23, of Gilbert, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a 100 dollar fine after pleading guilty to striking Iowa State University student Emmalee Jacobs in a December hit-and-run. Jacobs, 18, died crossing Ash Avenue in Ames. The case spurred debate on hit-and-run laws and prompted a proposed Emmalee's Law to allow felony charges without proving the driver knew they hit a person.
