Young student pilot lands stranded amphibian after father dies
A 20 year old California student pilot with limited twin engine experience took controls of a twin engine amphibious plane and landed safely at Prince George Airport after his father suffered a heart attack mid flight. The craft carried 12 passengers. John Dorr Jr. radioed mayday and was aided by another pilot from a BC Airlines flight who guided the distressed aircraft to land. The younger Dorr had only single engine flight time and was not licensed for twins.
