Reichswehr guards replace Schutzstaffel at the chancellery symbolizing loyalty and presidential power. Der Sturmer suspended for two weeks after an anti Czech attack. The plebiscite ballot text was made public.

Lincoln Nebraska AP says the dedication of the ten million dollar state capitol is postponed from September 3 to sometime in October. Governor Charles W Bryan announced the delay after the state fair board protested holding ceremonies on Labor Day, a peak attendance day for the fair.

Gen. Hugh S. Johnson brokered a settlement ending a two week strike by livestock handlers at Chicago's Union stockyards. A minimum wage and 40 hour week for extras and a 48 hour week for regulars were approved. remaining nine demands go to arbitration. Johnson cited drought-affected western movement and hailed a mutual win for both sides.
A Genoa man Joseph Weils Sosset 52 and his wife Magdalena Adeli 28 with six children were killed when their touring caravan bus burst into flames in Huesca Spain. The father escaped severely burned after attempting to rescue his family. the mother and six children perished inside the vehicle. Names of the children Dolores 9 Maria 6 Jose 5 Luis 4 Francisco 3 and Juan 1 are listed. The caravan was part of a group showing open air movies.
Washington AP reports Hugh B. Johnson marks his fifty second birthday as the nation ponders his future and the meaning for the NRA. The best guess is he will stay on as NRA administrator for now.
Alfred Lastinger, 23, sails solo in a 10 foot craft named Miss Florida to backtrack Spanish explorers. He carries four months of provisions and aims to reach San Sebastian in about ninety days using only a compass and celestial navigation.
Three men are feared drowned and five others injured when a huge boulder loosened from a ledge at Leiper's quarry in Ridley township near Chester. Sixteen people stood on the rock as it swayed and fell into the water filled quarry. Five men were carried to hospitals for treatment.
Neighbors found Adolph Martin’s wife Stella and step-daughter Maxine Abel murdered at his two miles west Keswick farm home. A rambling letter from Martin claimed his actions were driven by his wife’s alleged mistreatment. authorities search for him as inquest plans await.
