Gilbertville Don Bosco coach Tim Hermsen devised a balk-inducing move that confused Missouri Valley pitcher Davy York with runners on first and third. The Dons won 4 3 to capture the Class A summer baseball championship as York’s balk produced the deciding run. York will focus on basketball at Midland College. Jim Divelbess plans to stay home and farm. Hermsen, a Newton native and former Buena Vista and Northern Iowa player, leaves after summer to pursue a full teaching-coaching career in Norwalk.
