Cedar Rapids man pleads to lesser charges in killing

Paris Diamond and associates faced reduced charges after pleading to voluntary manslaughter intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent for the Jan 8 2023 fatal shooting of Mohamed Tawfik in a drug dispute. The plea includes consecutive 2 10 year terms and a 5 year sentence, with sentencing set for Nov 8. Jeremiah Coop’s murder and robbery charges were dismissed. The incident occurred near Eagle Point Apartments after a drug deal discussion.
