State pays 70 000 to five protesters at Iowa Capitol
A three member Iowa State Appeal Board approved a 70 000 settlement with five Des Moines Black Liberation Movement protesters arrested during a July 2020 scuffle at the Capitol. Each received 5 000, plus 45 000 for attorney fees, ending a federal civil rights suit.
