Tough Frenchwoman Braves Arctic Forest Fire Trip to Survive
Lydia Marie Barragan of Montpellier France survived 10 days in the Northwest Territories after a forest fire chased her and her canoe capsized. Her companion Jean-Jacques LeFranc drowned. Barragan walked over 60 miles to reach an unoccupied hunting cabin near Colville Lake and was found July 26.
