Mercy Auxiliary holds annual meeting transfers gavel in Cedar Rapids
Mercy Auxiliary of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids hosted its May 22 gathering with 62 attendees. Jean Hopp received the gavel from 2002-03 president Mary Jo Rater as 2003-04 president. A $144,000 Mercy Foundation donation for the Crawford Diabetes Center was announced, along with a Mount Mercy College scholarship for Andrew Whitters and an installation of officers. Guest speaker was Shirley Ruedy of The Gazette.

Getting a head start on bike safety
Greg Buelow of the Cedar Rapids Fire Department helps 4 year old Tyler Heggebo with his helmet during a Bikes for Kids event. The Variety charity and sponsors funded over 3000 dollars to provide 65 Eastern Iowa children with new bikes and helmets from Toys R Us in Cedar Rapids. Safety instruction was given by Linn County Safe Kids Coalition Cedar Rapids Police Department and Toys R Us staff in the Toys R Us parking lot on June 22.

Bobby Stearns Memorial Golf Tournament Raises Funds in Iowa City
June 14 at Finkbine course attracted golfers family and friends to support Variety The Children's Charity of Iowa and the Johnson County Crisis Center.
