Student claims buying majority of ICBM parts at MIT
Joseph Seitz a 21 year old special student at MIT told the Boston Globe he purchased two thirds of the components for an intercontinental ballistic missile from salvage and surplus dealers in Massachusetts and has access to the remainder. He cited an Atlas nose cone priced at 40 cents a pound and a Taunton warehouse providing a Titan II C first stage assembly plus several high level parts. Seitz says he collected the pieces out of idle curiosity to show how easy access is to such material, while noting assembling an ICBM would require extensive time and effort and no classified knowledge is needed.
