The Cedar Rapids Municipal Band performs the final Wednesday concert of the season at Noelridge Park at 8 p.m. with trumpet soloist Dennis Hodge and French horn soloist David Wick under conductor Frank Piersol. Admission is free. program repeats Sunday at Ellis Park.

Thai bandits burn 10 southern Thailand schools
Police said bandits torched 10 unoccupied schools in Pattani Province in a campaign to sabotage public facilities. They poured oil around the buildings and set them ablaze, causing about 200000 dollars in damage. No injuries were reported and the governor ordered temporary schools to reopen soon.

Parents agree to injunction in custody alienation case
A Cedar Rapids couple James and Connie Willyard and their 14-year-old son Chris filed a counterclaim in Linn District Court after agreeing to an injunction restraining contact with Judy Scheetz and her parents Matthias and Janet Scheetz. The Scheetz claim accused the Willyards of alienation, harassment, and causing the girl to leave home and require psychiatric care. The counterclaim denies the Scheetz allegations of immoral acts and defamation, seeks damages for time off work and attorney fees, and reports alleged threats and reputational harm.
