Church becomes Cedar Rapids music academy home
A former St. Josephs Catholic Church at Tenth Street and Fifth Avenue serves as the recital hall for the Cedar Rapids and Marion Academy of Music. James and Brent Debb, both Cedar Rapids Symphony musicians, lead a project to offer programs for all ages from preschoolers to adults with weekly recitals and a plan to raise local musical standards. The couple, Yale graduates, aim to supplement area bands and create adult ensembles while expanding teaching staff drawn from the symphony.
