Linn Rock Heads To Iowa State Fair Map Display
Linn County donated a 1600 pound fossilized dolomite rock for a state map display at the Iowa State Fair. The rock originally came from Crawford Quarry near Palo, not Benton County, and was presented Aug. 19 with a rock group of 88 pieces. The plan to embed rocks into cement in an Iowa shaped plaza may shift to smaller pieces to cut costs ahead of the Aug. 18 opening.
