U S District Judge Edward J McManus ordered Amana Refrigeration to discontinue distribution of a microwave oven promotional brochure containing favorable statements from Consumer Reports. The ruling found unauthorized quotes violated copyright and noted omission of a 1973 critical article. About 200000 brochures were printed.

The Iowa Commerce Commission approves a 3.3 million refund to natural gas customers in Quad Cities Cedar Rapids Iowa City and Ottumwa. The average residential credit is about 10 dollars on May gas bills based on 12 months ending February 1977. Another 5.8 million refund was announced April 15 to Iowa gas and electric customers.
