Hollywood liberals rally stars to back liberal campaigns
A group of Hollywood liberals including Chevy Chase and Robin Williams unite to support liberal politicians. Pamela Lippe of Citizens in Politics says the aim is to counter the radical right and its fundraising. Tuesday's show featured stars skewering the Reagan era and stressing issues like unemployment and nuclear freeze policy. Hal Linden notes job concerns as Chase performs a familiar SNL parody. Ed Asner, SAG president, supports candidates favoring a nuclear freeze and benevolent Latin America policy. Citizens in Politics is a project of the National Committee for an Effective Congress, formed in 1948.
