Garbage Dept Garage Plans Revealed for Cedar Rapids
Plans to prepare land for a sanitation department garage in south Cedar Rapids were revealed on Thursday with a city council vote to open bids on May 17. The project includes a garage, shop, paint shop, and storage near the Cedar River, on city land between the railroad siding and A Street SW. The bid package covers clearing and grading the tract and building a levee, with an estimated cost of about 6500 dollars. The current sanitation department garage sits in the old city waterworks building behind Quaker Oats, recently sold to Quaker Oats for 90000 dollars.

About 250 Linn County seniors attended the district court day sponsored by the Linn County Bar Association where bar members tried fictitious automobile damage cases before student juries. Another 230 were scheduled to attend Friday with seniors from listed schools participating. this was the last of four district court days following events on April 1 and 2.

Paroled member of three in Cedar Rapids crash case
One of three boys accused in a four car theft spree ending in a crash near Cedar Rapids won parole in district court.
