Whittman students urge Nixon jersey return amid college politics

Meanwhile Iowa U plans beer sales for students starting next year with Iowa State excluded due to private ownership of the student union. University of Northern Iowa also considered beer in student spaces under the new majority law, though regents remain cautious.

Franzenburg proposes private liquor sales test in Iowa

Ames Democrat Franzenburg, a governor hopeful, backs a plan giving the Iowa liquor control commission authority to select a cross section of at least 10 percent of current store locations and turn them to private operators while the state remains wholesaler for remaining stores. He argues private stores would improve selection and hours, reduce illegal sales, and keep receipts in Iowa, with strict age controls and license pricing tied to anticipated profits. The discussion also covered tax reform as a central issue of the 1972 campaign, with Lynch urging honest reform to lower burdens on the elderly and middle class. Secretary Rogers plans European talks in May with leaders Brandt Pompidou Heath and the Pope.
