Special to The Gazette. SILL Oklahoma Cedar Rapids army serviceman Sgt Timothy Casey, 22, remains in critical condition at Reynolds army hospital after a Sunday amusement park ride accident. He suffered a shattered hip and severe pelvic injuries when thrown about 50 feet as the ride door flew open and the seat belt broke. His companion had only a sprained ankle. Casey, in the army one year, was to be sent to Vietnam in June and doctors say he will be in traction two to three months.

Linn County sheriff's deputy said the state highway patrol will re examine a Cedar Rapids man to determine if he should retain a driver's license. Elmer J. Burgess, 50, of 610 J avenue NW, was involved in a diabetic blackout crash on highway 4 east of Covington, crossing the centerline and tearing through a fence before stopping in a ditch. Burgess was treated and released. Dorene Long, 16, of Marion, was admitted to St Luke's after a one car crash involving Mark E. Jacobson, 17, with back and neck injuries but in fair condition. Jacobson, Ray Williams, and David McNulty were treated and released. Jacobson was charged with failure to have his vehicle under control.

Man jailed for nonpayment of drunken driving fine
