Scott County Sheriff Faces Ethics Probe Over Parade Cars
Iowa ethics board opened an investigation into Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane over use of patrol cars in a Bettendorf Halloween parade last year. Lane says the event was public relations, not campaign related, paid personally, with his family and campaign shirts involved. The case centers on whether public resources were used for campaigning while Lane seeks re election. The board's unanimous vote triggers further inquiry as Lane defends the action and reiterates intent to participate in future parades.
