St. as Jaycee of the Month at a Ladies Night gathering in the Chamber building, with Usher recognized for March health fair work and St. Clair for February’s Jamboree effort. A briefcase was presented to Holvenstat as he departs Cedar Rapids for Tulsa.

The council was elected by mail balloting closing Wednesday. Members of the 1957 58 council meet next Tuesday to elect officers.

The YMCA Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center fund drive has raised 11 629.52 toward an 18 892 goal. Chairman Richard Nazette urged further gifts to prevent reduced operations for the coming year. The center, run with the Linn County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, treated about 2 500 children from 10 counties last year. Study Grant to Karl Goellner for Marine Biology Work
Dr. Karl Goellner professor of biology at Coe college received a National Science Foundation study grant for summer research at the University of Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Coos Bay. Soybeans Spilled from 75000-Bushel Storage Bin
In Austin Minnesota a huge storage bin at Sargeant gave way spilling thousands of bushels of soybeans onto the ground. Witnesses described a thunderclap as the 75 foot long container failed under its 19000 bushel contents. Operator Morris Armbruster said wall panel rods tore loose starting the chain reaction and rain may limit losses if beans can be moved to jether storage.
