Taxi Driver Slugged And Robbed On Lonely Cedar Road
Cedar Rapids police seek an icomplex stranger who slugged Lumir Felter a 31 year old Yellow cab driver and robbed him of more than $25 on a lonely road about two miles north of Louisa at 1 a.m. Sunday. Felter was bleeding from a head wound and telephoned police from W L Rath’s farm home after the assault. Felter described the suspect as about 30, 185 pounds, 5 feet 11 inches tall, bare headed with dark complexion, wearing a mackinaw dark trousers and dark shirt. The cab owner is Charles Matthews of 1329 K street SW. Authorities cordoned the area and recovered the abandoned cab near Waterloo Cedar Falls tracks. Felter was treated at St Luke’s hospital and later returned to the scene with Sheriff Jim Smith and Deputy Larry Condon. The assailant demanded to be taken to Buffalo after asking for directions. The investigation continues.
