Museum lifts off foundation in Cedar Rapids move
Gail Naughton leads the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library as crews from Jeremy Patterson Structural Moving and Shoring raise the 1,400 ton building. The move, delayed by weather, aims to shift the structure about 480 feet to a new site while maintaining balance with careful pressure and new dollies. A 40 person crew works with specialists from Expert House Movers to ensure the roofline remains intact. The planet-like relocation is expected to be the largest museum move in the world, with a new date announced 48 hours in advance.
