Kozak Trial Details Mental State in Iowa Mall Murder

The trial in Story County shows Alexander Kozak 23 of North Liberty admitting premeditated murder in the Andrea Farrington killing at the Coralville Iowa Children’s Museum welcome center. Investigators say Kozak was coherent and offered unprompted details during a police interview.

Escaped jail inmate recaptured in Cedar Rapids

Joshua J. Smith, 42, failed to return from a court ordered furlough and was arrested at 10 42 a m Wednesday at a Bridgit Court SE home. He is charged with escape and returned to Linn County Jail. In a separate event, Timothy P. Boies, 50, of Midway, sustained non life threatening injuries in a single vehicle crash on Midway Road and was hospitalized. Charges pending.
