Hoover birthplace nut trees set for planting in Iowa
West Branch residents will see President Hoover’s final wish fulfilled as 200 nut trees including hickory chestnut black walnut hazelnut and butternut are planted around the Hoover birthplace cottage by the National Parks Service. Floyd Fawcett found Hoover’s 1964 letter urging restoration for public enjoyment. The cottage near Interstate 80 east of Iowa City became a national historic site in 1965.

At the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch a 1 p.m. Saturday planting will mark Earth Day’s 30th anniversary and end National Park Week. The event honors Hoover’s conservation legacy and ongoing grounds at the 186 acre site managed by the National Park Service.

Luther College pair win for analyzing Teletubbies and Barney

Iowa State University graduates T J Paskach and Will Schroeder have developed a rapid ice cream device using liquid nitrogen.
