Iowa City district to cut 22 teaching positions
The Iowa City school district plans to trim 22 teaching posts next year to close a 4.3 to 6.8 million dollar budget gap. Ten layoffs and 12 early retirements will not be replaced, with most cuts at secondary and elementary levels. Officials hope many positions will be filled again if growth funding meets targets.
