Unitarian Society to Break Ground on Greenest Iowa City Church
Members of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City plan a groundbreaking on Earth Day for a new church at 2355 Oakdale Rd Coralville aimed to be powered entirely by on site renewable energy. The $6 million project includes 400 solar panels a geothermal system daylighting permeable grass pavers and rain gardens. The congregation expects opening within about a year of Earth Day 2017 with strong member support across multiple votes and ongoing preservation of the historic Gilbert Street sanctuary.
