USDA estimates Saturday receipts show 100 cattle 100 hogs no sheep at Chicago. Butcher hogs steady to 25 cents higher while cattle prices tested weak with limited test. Des Moines Iowa receipts Friday 55,000 hogs and 7,000 test bids, Chicago week figures show varied hog prices across weights and grades.
Chicago AP reports grain mixed with no major commercial pressure. Israel bought 560000 bushels of red wheat, European buyers took small corn and soybeans. Prices varied across wheat, corn, oats, rye, and soybeans with multiple No 1 to No 5 grade quotes in the Chicago cash provisions.
Waterloo Hogs market summary lists prices for various weight ranges from 160 to 400 pounds. Rates show drops for barrows and sows with bids: 160-170 lb at 12.25 to 12.75, up to 360-400 lb at 13.25 to 13.75, and sow weights 270-330 lb around 14.00.
Sioux City livestock reports show slaughter cattle receipts around 1,000 with steady prices for slaughter steers at 26.00 to 27.50. balance of stockers and feeders carried over. Omaha receipts also about 1,000 calves with fed steers and heifers virtually absent.
UPI reports live poultry volume 80,000 lbs with no USDA price changes. Cheese prices show daisies and longhorns 3744-38%4, loaf 36-37c, Grade A 45-47c. Eggs steady with 28,100 cases. white large extras 26-28c, mediums 24c, standards 25-25.2c. Receipts 14,100, extras 48-50 lbs in New York offerings.
In a terse market note, offerings show liberal demand while receipts reach 198,000. Prandaris reported large checks of 24 to 25 cents, as the index reflects mixed activity and steady cash flow for the period.
