Market indices show modest gains in mixed trading

The Wilshire Equity Index reports 5 000 NYSE Amex and OTC issues valued at 1458.422 billion, up 0.41 percent from yesterday. Value Line Index of 1485 stocks rose 0.50 percent, with 34 new highs and 25 new lows amid strong total volume.
